Surefire Ways To Deal With Different Carpet Stains
To remove stains from a carpet, you don’t need to buy complicated ingredients because you probably have them in your house. Before you begin cleaning the carpet, you must blot the stains and work it from outside to the inside, rinse and blot it again. See more specific tips below.
Urine stains
Use an absorbent white towel on the stain and let it absorb the urine. Spray vinegar on the spot and apply a soft detergent. Rinse and then blot to dry.
Oil and Fat
Put a paper towel on the stain. Iron the part with moderate heat so as to melt the stain. The dirt will stick to the paper towel and you are done.
Wax and Gum
Freeze the stain with ice. Cut the frozen dirt with an object like a cooking stick. Vacuum the stain immediately before the shattered pieces soften. Use a white piece of cloth to bolt.
Glue
Take a soft cloth or cotton wool and apply alcohol. Rub the stain to moisten the glue. The wipe repeatedly till it clears off.
Solvent stains
In this category we have alcohol, coffee, milk, tea, food dyes, washable ink, blood, wine, berries, jelly, mud, chocolate, among others. Use a mixture of ammonia except for a woolen carpet. For the wool, use gentle detergent and water. For colored stain, use chlorine bleach for solution-died carpets. If you do not know what type the carpet is, consult the manufacturer to avoid damage. For the simplest stains like tea, you can use a normal detergent and vinegar without bleaching.
Nail Polish
Use polish remover to get rid of the stain.
Paint
Paint on carpet is quite problematic and it needs to be removed immediately. For fresh water-based paints, scoop with a blunt object like a spoon or credit card to remove the excess paint. Bolt with damp paper towel but do not rub. Alternatively use a white cloth to eliminate excess stain. For dried paint, Use a mixture of hot water and detergent. With a soft brush, apply the cleaning solution on the stain. Allow five minutes for the paint to get soft and then use a blunt object to scoop the paint. Then bolt with a wet paper towel or clean white cloth. Add hot water gradually until the stain is gone. Avoid rubbing as it will make it worse. If it doesn’t come off, use a steamer to increase heat but do not iron. Be patient and dry it thoroughly.
You must never scrub any carpet stain with a hard brush no matter how tough it is. Soaking the stain overnight makes your work easier.
